Cope 2 (Team blog #1)
On the Rooftop Legends, there are many famous, & well known graffiti artists. One of the artists is Bronx graffiti legend Cope2. Let me give you some background on him.
Cope2 has been active for over 20 years. Cope2 started back in the late 80's , and is still going strong. He turned his activity into a career. I find this so cool, because he turned a hobby into a profession. He now has his graffiti on Adidas products, & even found in the Grand Theft Auto IV game. Pretty cool!
This is just one of the many graffiti artists on the Rooftop that we're going to feature in our film. Click the video up top, this will give you some background of Cope 2, when he started, and his current state. You can get your own opinion and feel about the graffiti artist. Ans last but not least, some video fo him in action.

Blog post # 4 : Style Wars
Style Wars is a video wich tells the story, and evolution of the Hip-Hop & Graffiti art. It shows where it originated, and the purpose behind the whole movement. It documents a few kids who lived in the South Bronx. These teens varied from graffiti writer "kase 2", "Seen", "Skeme", and many more. During this period in time this part of the Bronx was destroyed due to construction of a highway. Kids had no way of expression , and couldn't do nothing recreational either. Thats when it all started. Here is the movie so you can watch it your self. You wont be disappointed ! : Style Wars .

blog post # 2
Media is a big part of any teens life. Today life is so virtual. I usually use Facebook on a daily basis. Hotnewhiphop is another website where I visit, to keep me up on music. Mtv is also my network of choice. I like to watch the TV programs they show such as jersey shore. Tumblr is another website I use, but not as frequently. Mediatakeout , and worldstarhiphop are also two of my favorites websites.
These websites keep people connected. Everyone interacts, and it makes it easier to reach people.
people use social networks just to keep in touch, and to meet new people. Tumblr is a different story. its a blog where people post , and repost pictures of their interest. heres my Tumblr : http://kickscloudsanddopesounds.tumblr.com/ .
Here are two more of links of websites I visit - http://mediatakeout.com/index.html , & http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/videos/ . I use these two frequently, and it keeps me up to date with anything going on in the hip-hop community. I like to stay connected. As you can see Media is important and part of everyday life. We are only getting more virtual !

Graffiti: Expression
Art is expressed in many ways. Graffiti is one way , and is seen all threw the city of New York. Many people see this as vandalism and don't understand the story and culture behind the movement of graffiti. I want people to understand that people don't just do graffiti to purposely vandalize , but as a way of expression.
Adapt and overcome, is a film by the media storm 12th grader's. It tells the story of graffiti writer Skuf 1. People can actually make a living off of the graffiti life , and its not all about the negative factors of graffiti. Like it or not , its art and uses styles, colors, and different concepts to display the writers name , or ''tag''.
Skuf started graffiti because of recreational reasons. He didn't have the art program's available today. It was a way just to avoid the streets and problems they bring. Skuf believes that if it wasn't for graffiti, he wouldn't be where he is today. " If i would of changed anything, it would of right now changed my path, and Im very comfortable and happy where Im at now" Skuf said. He's happy where the art has placed him in life. "If you could take the culture, and still appreciate it , and make a living off of it , without getting in trouble , go for it".
As you can see, Graffiti is a own world on its own. It has a culture behind it, and it goes back to the 80's. Its a way of expression, and recreation. Me , being the artistic person I am, fully support the movement and i believe it should be looked more upon they way New Design has. I think this film proves it all.
