Graffiti: Expression
Art is expressed in many ways. Graffiti is one way , and is seen all threw the city of New York. Many people see this as vandalism and don't understand the story and culture behind the movement of graffiti. I want people to understand that people don't just do graffiti to purposely vandalize , but as a way of expression.
Adapt and overcome, is a film by the media storm 12th grader's. It tells the story of graffiti writer Skuf 1. People can actually make a living off of the graffiti life , and its not all about the negative factors of graffiti. Like it or not , its art and uses styles, colors, and different concepts to display the writers name , or ''tag''.
Skuf started graffiti because of recreational reasons. He didn't have the art program's available today. It was a way just to avoid the streets and problems they bring. Skuf believes that if it wasn't for graffiti, he wouldn't be where he is today. " If i would of changed anything, it would of right now changed my path, and Im very comfortable and happy where Im at now" Skuf said. He's happy where the art has placed him in life. "If you could take the culture, and still appreciate it , and make a living off of it , without getting in trouble , go for it".
As you can see, Graffiti is a own world on its own. It has a culture behind it, and it goes back to the 80's. Its a way of expression, and recreation. Me , being the artistic person I am, fully support the movement and i believe it should be looked more upon they way New Design has. I think this film proves it all.
